Urban Church Wellness
The Urban Church Wellness (UCW) Program is sponsored by Ascension Wisconsin. Churches of various denominations partner with Ascension to help promote wellness through health promotion, education and screenings. Milwaukee churches of all denominations are welcome to register as a partner of Urban Church Wellness and take advantage of this opportunity.
Our Urban Church Wellness partners have access to a variety of services including: mammography screenings, hypertension screenings, cooking classes, nutritional education, diabetes education, assistance regarding advance care directives, an annual priest wellness event and development of programs suggested by the health liaison volunteers and the community.

Urban Church Wellness partners are asked to:
Identify a church member that can serve as your Church Health Liaison. The liaison will serve as the main point of contact.
Attend a minimum of 2 health events (annually) sponsored by Ascension Wisconsin.
Host a minimum of 1 health activity or workshop (annually). Clinical support will be offered (if available).
Attend quarterly meetings (minimum of 2).
Attend the Priest/Pastoral Wellness annual event. (strongly recommended)

Who this program serves
Urban Church Wellness serves the community at large with an emphasis on urban churches in Milwaukee County.
Our Impact
Nearly 120 Milwaukee churches have joined our initiative. Each church appoints a Health Liaison to coordinate its Urban Church Wellness programs. The liaison can be a formal or informal leader within the church, most often a volunteer, that serves as a bridge between the church and Ascension Wisconsin resources.
